I knew because someone noticed a slight bump in my neck. My PCP sent me in for a biopsy and it came back positive, then I went in for treatment. There are 3 different kinds of cancer and each is treated differently. You really need to educate yourself about it and there is a great website and Listserve called THYCA they helped me out tremendously. I even found my dr. through this site! The biopsy doesn't hurt AT ALL! Trust me on this! Sue
