Hi Sue,     Losing your eyelashes is a new side effect that I haven't been aware of in anyone else.  But, everyone seems to have some similar side effects and some that are unique to them.     Regarding your dr.,  I drive over an hour to see one of the top specialists in cml.  I also have a local dr. that I see every 3 months and he orders my 6 week regular blood work, cbcs with differential platelets.  I basically fired my first oncologist as he was very unaware of the current treatments.  For example, he was going to start me on 200 mg of Gleevec to which I said no and I had to ask for fish and pcr tests.  He wasn't aware that they didn't even run pcr tests here.  And once he ordered a test for menopause instead of the fish test.  My new local oncologist is better, but I still go to UCLA every 6 months for pcr and fish tests.  My point is, I would definitely travel 1
 1/2 hrs. to see a cml specialist.  Most oncologists do not have many, if any, cml patients and they are not up to the standards that you need and deserve.  I think it's very important to have the best.  Go to Dana Farber and then have them tell you which regular tests he/she would want from your local dr.       Hope this information helps.  Take care and welcome.  Mary Toole  sue titus <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:    Hi, I'm not yet a month into my treatment with 400mg Gleevec and my dr. does not repond to any of my symptoms.  She also told me to take tylenol for my cramping.  Has anyone out there lost their eyelashes???  I have, but no other place on my body!  It looks a little strange but eyeliner covers for its absence.  I am
 about 90 miles from Dana Farber in Boston and even though it is inconvenient, I'll make the trip by bus if I can find a competent CML specialist.  It's worth the extra effort. I found my thyroid cancer specialist by a listserve in 1998 when I was diagnosed and he's the best there is.  The drs. here in Southern Maine almost killed me before I found him.  Sue T.      Yahoo!
