Just had visit with my oncologist, he stated that I am in hematologic remission wants to draw pcr next month and c how that is. I started on gleevec the first part of October, is it possible to go into remission this quick also my wife and i told him that I still wasn't feeling alot better that iam still really fatigued, tire very easy, am still having pain in my side ( i think it is my spleen pressing on things) He says my spleen is not enlarged at this time. Last Friday i had CT scan because of having severe lower abd pain and the radiologist at the hospital said that my spleen was very enlarged, I understand that it can change from day to day and week to week. Also told him that I am still nauseated alot and that one day this last week I felt so bad I couldn't get off the couch, He thinks it is a fast onset of Depression because of just finding out about having CML having to take a medical leave from my job and being out of my normal
routine, I told there are some days that iam really down about it but for the most part Iam dealing very well with it we have five children all under the age of six so I don't have time to sit and dwell on it. So he has now put me on a anti-depressant and has increased my gleevec from 400mg to 600mg, also he says that the gleevec is getting my numbers where he wants them but that it may not be the drug for me because my body may not respond to it even though the disease is,Also he wants to send me to Washington University Hospital to the BMT unit, he doesn't think I need it yet but that I need to get established with them and get my foot in the door. When I go back next month for my visit he wants to discuss me going back to work I don't know if I could go back to my job yet the way I feel most days. Any feedback would be appreciated!
