Hi Becky,
I have always had a sleep problem.
I take my Gleevec early with my breakfast and it dosn't seem to bother me.
I have tried all kinds of sleeping pills and other things but nothing works.
Ambien gave me nightmares of all things.
Sleeping pills are addictive so I try to do all the natural things to get a good nights sleep.
Nothing to eat or drink before bedtime, no action movies or etc, I read for a while to wind down and this seems to help. A good dark room no light on at all helps.
I keep a window open at all time for good fresh air.
I think we all have to set our own patterns and these are some of mine.

I absolutely find that gleevec interferes with my ability to sleep
well.  I find that at the 400 mg dose I do not experience insomnia.
At 600 mg I have some difficulty, and at 800 mg I have much more of a
problem.  My oncologist is willing to write a prescription for Ambien,
but suggested that I try using Benedryl first.  If needed, it take 2
(and every now and then 3) Benedryl as needed, and I have found that
to be helpful. I like it because I don't consistently have an insomnia
problem, so I can wait to take the Benedryl only if I find that I need
it.  The Beneryl does not leave me feeling groggy in the morning.
It's worth a try!
