Hi Penny,
I'm sorry your son had to go through that.
I had mine done in my oncs office and it was uncomfortable but not painful.
The pain came later as a lump came up on the site of the Biopsy and I had been put in the  hospital and had to stay lying down all the time.  They had put a big bandage on the site and finally I figured out that was causing a lot of the pain and took it off.
