Hi Randy
How long were you on 400mg of gleevec? My husband has only been on 400mg for four months.I want him to get the best care possible, but I don't want the Onc to rush it if he will do good on this dosage.I know that once they up it to 600mg he can never go back to 400.His only side effect right now is gas and his stomach rumbles like crazy. But he is grateful that that's all he has.He goes back for another fish test in Feb. The Onc said they only do pcr testing if the fish test comes back neg. Thanks for your reply and I will ask about splitting the dose age up if it comes to that.Hope you are doing well.Sandy

HI SANDYHere's hoping Randy doesn't have to be increased to 600 mg. I was increasedto 600 3 months ago. Everything GI began to go wrong. But my Onc did tell meto start splitting my dosage after a month, which helped considerably. So ifhe does have to increase, ask your Dr if splitting the dosage could work. Youstill have to take it with lots of food and water but it doesn't tear up your systemquite so badly. Lots of luck.Randy (Reese)
