Hi Cindy,

If platelet counts are in the normal range, there are doctors who
prescribe quinine tablets for severe Gleevec cramps. My husband was
having cramps and tonic water does help him as well as other patients
in our clinic but when we were going to India for holidays, I would not
have access to tonic water so I asked our doctor who prescribed quinine
tablets. It is not recommended for patients with low platelet counts.
My husband's platelet counts are normal and he has benefited from tonic
water.

There is a correlation between thrombocytopenia and quinine but for
Gleevec patients with normal platelet counts, tonic water can help
alleviate the cramps.

Best Wishes,
Anjana
