Dear Pat,

You assume right. Your PCR numbers are up and if your doctor is not
recommending it, please do not go off Gleevec. Patients who are stable
in PCRU have gone off Gleevec for a short time with their doctor's
blessing due to side-effects. But with your PCR numbers rising and
your doc not recommending it, please do not go off Gleevec and hang on
until Dasatinib is approved. You do not want your disease to progress.

Stress can result in a nervous stomach and Gleevec can also affect
the digestive system. My husband has lost his sense of taste on
Gleevec, he cannot taste most things when he eats so I try to take him
out to restaurants which serve spicy food so he can taste his food a
bit. He has also lost weight after initially gaining weight. I think
not able to taste can put people off enjoying their food and they don't
eat that much. He says it is a small price to pay for staying alive.

Best Wishes,
Anjana
