Hi every since I started Gleevec in June 04 I started having chest pains and a rapid heart beat. The heart specialist informed me that it was a side effect of Gleevec and gave me Nitro pills and a pill to try and lower my heart rate. It has helped my heart rate has gone from 120 to 90. He also told me that any type of cancer could possibly cause heart problems which I did not know. It took me two years to get someone to take me serious about my problem. He also told me that my rapid heart beat was one of the reasons I stay fatigued along with the side effects of the Gleevec. Good luck with all who think they may have a problem. Get a referral to see a heart specialist if you are concerned. I am glad I did.

I'm 38 and in good health. I bike, walk and bus my way around the
cities most of the time and don't get winded. And now I have
cardiomyopathy. Maybe you don't have anything to worry about--but
wouldn't it be better to know for sure?
