Sorry I took so long but what Trey and Anjana said is what my doctor said. In fact I had forgotten(imagine that..lol) that when I was first dxed they found a Urinary tract infection. Which is rare for men, and I had to drink some very nasty crap before getting an MRI, and other test. They put me on antibiotics and it was taken care of. The scary thing for me at the time is I was still with my ex, and my doctor had mentioned maybe a possible STD. Thank god it wasn't but it would not have surprised me if it had been, knowing what I know about my ex now..lol.

Dear Dave,

The normal upper limit of the creatinine is 1.2 so yours is rising.
Here is a good website on creatinine.  Basically, creatinine levels in
the blood can predict how well your kidney is functioning, if it is too
high, the kidney has a problem.  However, as said in the website, for a
look at kidney funtion, doctors should also do a blood urea nitrogen
(BUN) test and measure the ratio of BUN/creatinine.  So, more
investigations have to be done.  As you can see, dehydration can give
rise to higher creatinine levels as well.

I note that you say you have high blood pressure but did not take the
meds.  Uncontrolled blood pressure can be hard on the kidneys.  My Mom
suffers from high blood pressure and she had to change her meds to see
which one suited her, this can happen.  If you cannot tolerate one BP
med, inform your doc about the side-effects so he can change you to
another but controlling of BP is needed otherwise other organs will be
affected.  See website below.

http://kidney.niddk.nih.gov/kudiseases/pubs/highblood/

Also, once you are on the BP meds, some can affect creatinine so the
docs were always measuring my Mom's creatinine and potassium
levels.(especially if a diuretic is additionally prescribed to control
BP).

I do not think you are in big trouble but you need to investigate with
your doctor what is giving creatinine elevation, explore other kidney
function test results to see how well your kidney is functioning and
also please see that your BP is controlled.  Having high blood pressure
can give rise to a host of problems, if you cannot tolerate one med,
tell your doc and he will change meds.  My Mom had to change meds so
many times to find out the ones that suited her.

Please let us know how you do.

Best Wishes,
Anjana
