Hi Anjana,There was some reason they did not want to give Randy neulasta, and for the life of me I can not think of why. He had 8 shots(two a week) and his ANC was up to 1.0 than his ANC dropped to 0.7 over the weekend. So now he is taking a shot every day.His Dr. In Iowa City said it could take up to another month for it to work.Randy had not had any bone pain they talked about until yesterday,he was having pains in his breast bone. What I don't understand is his wbc was up a little(3.6) when his ANC dropped. How does that work?We will have his Fish test back Tuesday!! Surely it will be good results,it just seems to be doing something with his count being so low.Sandy

Hi Gwen and Sandy,

Aranesp is to boost the red blood cells whereas Neupogen is to boost
white blood cells. Like Aranesp is a longer acting version of Procrit
and some like Gwen do better on that, similarly, Neulasta is a longer
acting version of Neupogen. I believe, Sandy, you do not have to take
Neulasta as many times as Neupogen for the same boosting.

Best Wishes,
