Dear Sandy, Randy is really having a tough time with his ANC. Neupogen has been used by many Gleevec patients along with Gleevec to boost up the white blood cells so I would not worry about that aspect. However, there is a longer acting Neupogen called Neulasta, I think you take that less often.
Have a good discussion about the ANC with the doctor after you receive the FISH results. Ask him the plan, what if his ANC drops further on 800mg? Maybe need to take this one step at a time. Sometimes, there is a need to balance the goal of a good cytogenetic response with low counts management. Is Randy's doctor very experienced in treating CML patients? You could always drop a mail to Dr. Brian Druker, he always answers patients. His e-mail is [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please post Randy's FISH results as soon as you get them. I am keeping fingers crossed for a good fat zero as then it will make everything worthwhile. You are a very good caregiver, dear Sandy, always looking out for Randy and he will soon be in safe harbors.
