Angelyn: My mother has what they call an "auto-immune" disease of the platelets & she was down very low as you when she went in and found out what was going on. They put her on doses of Prednizone & her platelets responded immediately. Once she was back up, he took her off of it completely and within a week they bottomed out to 0....she was taking IV treatments daily of immunoglobulin for three or four days in a row and then something else.......he put her back on Prednizone (high doses in the beginning) & she has been taking a lower dose for over a year now. All the things that you said happened to you, she went through. It also took her a good six months to regain her strength & even today she still tires easily as I do with my CML & Gleevec. I was told that Lupus is an "auto-immune" disease, so it could be all linked together for you. My mother tested negative for Lupus.......her RBC'S & WBC'S have been okay......it's just her platelets that seem to be affected.
I guess you people have noticed I've not posted much lately........I still read & keep up. I've had house guests since before Thanksgiving. Am going to take my mother back to Florida this next week.......one less adult & dog.......my oldest brother is living in our basement while he is remodeling a house behind us. Should be done by the first of Feb. & then he'll be out of the house.......has been trying at times, but I've enjoyed having my family close for a change. I go back to the doctor in a month........have lost almost thirty pounds total so far & am feeling so much better. My legs aren't throbbing from knees to ankles at night or when I prop them up like they did......but am having pain in the left arm & elbow area....so, don't know if it's just the random bone & joint pain side effects from the Gleevec or what.......I just take some Advil and go on. I've noticed that all the different Gleevec side effects come & go since early 2004 when I began taking it. Makes it hard to diagnose if there is a real problem, though. (smile) My husband & I learned this past week that the man who owns and operates a truck stop here has a rare form of Leukemia and has been given three months to live without treatment and with it, six to nine months. We didn't hear what kind it is........he is probably mid to late fifties. Really sad to hear. Well, Angelyn, you hang in there and keep looking up, Suzieq --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ [CMLHope] A support group of http://cmlhope.com ------------------------------------------------- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "CMLHope" group.
