Hello there:

Just wanted to say "welcome to the greatest support group"......sorry
about your diagnosis.

How well I remember those first six months after my
dx'es..............I spent a great deal of my days laying on the sofa
or in the bathroom. I know what you mean about feeling like
"crap"......but, I for one can tell you that, in my circumstance, I
did begin to feel much better after some time. I was dx'ed back in
Jan. of 2004, begin Gleevec about three weeks after. 400mgs. is what
I've always taken & it begin to work immediately. I got on-line and
learned everything possible to know about CML & leukemia in general as
well as Gleevec. My doctors did not tell me a thing about what to
expect..........other than to drink lots of water to flush something,
don't remember what it was, out of my system. :-). I remember how
badly my eyes were swollen each morning......I used ice packs, cold
wet tea bags, you name it.........today, I still have a bit of
swelling mostly in the upper lid of the right eye.....but nothing like
in the beginning. I think all of us here have gone through most all
of the side affects from the Gleevec at one time or another.......for
me, they come and go but not as severe as they were at first. The
best list of side affects I found was sent to me from
Novartis........more extensive list than what you get with your
prescription. I decided to take control of my own life.......added
certain vitamins daily & over a period of time, most days, I feel
better than I have in a long time. I still have an occasional day
where I spend it just "laying around" & I've learned that there are
just some things I can't do as well as I did before CML. You learn to
adjust....but don't give up. Keep fighting....because it does get
better.

God Bless You &
Keep Looking Up,

Suzieq
