I can also confirm the cramping.  Mine occurs in the hands, my back
and sides.  The potassium and tonic water help.  Also, it seems to get
worse when I get dehydrated.  I got my Dr to give me a perscription
for quinine (there is not that much in tonic water), but the FDA
outlawed it in the U.S. for some reason.  Got mine from India.
