Hi Pat,
I am on Sprycel too. When I first started I had the racing heart also. It drove me crazy especially at night when all was quiet and that is what I was focusing on. My primary dr. put me on a b/p medicine antenol that slows the heart beat down. I haven't had it since.. I also went through the panic attacks. I would wake up in a cold sweat and that has subsided greatly. As far as the gerd, I have acid reflux but that is a problem with Sprycel as the sprycel works with the stomach acid. I can only take mylanta or tums and that has to be two hours before or after taking the sprycel. I never had the headache but I am on a extremely low dose thank goodness. I have had excellent results and most of the time my pcr is undetectable. My dr still does the prc test every three months. Hang in there it will get better. I say that tongue in cheek as my husband just had surgery for lung cancer and we are knee deep in chemo and radiation. I see all these people so sick getting chemo and I am so grateful for the meds I am on. Your doctor will get it straightened out. It took mine awhile to get all kinks out and on track with the sprycel.
Best of luck to you.
Carolyn

Subject: [CMLHope] Having trouble with sprycel

I've run into some new problems with sprycel so I need some advice. I
haven't mentioned it to my doctor yet but the sprycel is making my
chest hurt, heart racing out of my chest, go into a panic attack upon
getting up each day. I know this is doing it. Last week, when I went
to get my sprycel filled, they didn't have any in stock, they ordered
it but then my insurance said I needed prior authorization so this
took 3 days...anyway, I didn't have any sprycel to take for about 5
days and when I didn't take it, I had none of those symptoms. Has
anyone else had this problem? They are still giving me the bad
headaches, too. I started seeing a new primary doctor, don't think he
is going to please me either, but anyway, since i was so severely
depressed, he would not treat me for it and has me seeing a
psychiatrist. He started me on cymbalta 30mgs first week, 2nd week
60mgs. They make me so nauseous, also give me a headache. The side
effects are horrendous, and some of the side effects are the same as
the sprycel. Keep in mind I do have emphysema. I just don't think the
sprycel is going to work out for me , nor the cymbalta. I have gerd
and the sprycel and cymbalta seem to be keeping it flared up. I am
taking both at night, one to avoid the nausea and the other to sleep
thru the headache which I still wake up with one. Please share your
input with me. I am terrified...if I can't take sprycel, I don't know
what i am going to do...the tasgina is definitely not an option.
Love,peace, hope n prayers, Pat
