Hi Peter, Just for your information. I recently had that vaccine and it had to be done in order for me to be on the kidney transplant list. I am listed at three different transplant hospitals in Florida, and only one had asked that I get it.
Since I had a bone marrow transplant more then 25 years ago I lo longer have CML and my tests are always PCRU. I know that I have a depressed immune system and that shingles vaccine had no adverse effects on me except for general swelling and some pain at the injection site that lasted for several days.. By the way that shot is very expensive and it not covered by my Medicare but my secondary was able to pick a small amount up which surprised me because they usually won't pay anything unless Medicare picks it up at 80% first which I already mentioned that they did not. I think that you may want to run it by your ONC because if you do get the Shingles you will be in some horrible pain.
