Jeanie, there is a great wig shop literally 5 minutes from my home. It's very complete going there as most of the customers suffer hair loss.
I have a number of wigs so I always have an available one if the others are being washed. The wigs cost about $200 and are not human hair. The most important thing is to take the wig off when you cook. Not only will heat from the oven sear the wig, it will also pick up the aroma of whatever you are cooking. I wear cute stretchy turbans around the house. Best investments I've made are the wigs since they look better than my hair ever did!
