Hi everyone, As usual i did a lot of research on blood clots because i had a stroke several years ago. I would like to send you some of the research that i came upon. Also after the stroke i developed A-fib and i am now doing well with my medications, including Apixaban commonly referred to Eliquis. There are others as well (see below) These tend to try and avoid blood clots but there are some that may suit your needs.
For-instance if you are using Warfarin (Coumadin) you will have test your blood on a weekly basis just so you know there is a meter , and if you eat green salads especially lettuce and any other green leafy vegetables they contain Vitamin K which may interfere with your blood clotting abilities. However if you eat the same amount of green salads then since the Vitamin K levels more or less remain the same level then you needn't worry to much about that aspect. Oh yes if you get a sever cut or wound there is treatment for that, Vitamin K and some other things. If you are on some of the others then if you get a cut or wound it will take a lot longer to stop bleeding and if it a severe cut or wound you may need to do to the nearest hospital and possibly get blood plasma but in either case the effects of the most of the other blood thinners usually last for about 18 hours. But some of the newer ones have an antidote so that is on the horizon for most of them and there are a few of them with antidotes. Now i am not talking about a minor cut or wound so you shouldn't worry to much about that in fact i do get some cuts in my daily life and they usually stop within 30 seconds or so. Just so that you are aware of it. So now you know the good and the bad of it but you have to consider all of the benefits. If you tend to have clots and your not on any blood thinners then you may be at risk for a stroke or heart attack. By the way you should speak with your doctor because he or she will guide you in the right direction, and who knows taking a daily baby (81mg) aspirin may be warranted if at all you even require it or even if you need it. That's why i am telling you to see your doctor for more information. I have put together an article about blood thinners, I am sure that if you need any of them then you may want to read this.. https://medlineplus.gov/bloodthinners.html Now moving to a comment that you left Concerning Lottie. I was a very close and good friend of hers and i was so saddened when she passes away. I kept this in my heart even today. And let me tell you why. Every time that we spoke to eachother i found out that she was devoted to basically three things in her life, one was her mate Jimmy for many years then her second donation to her life was that if she found out that someone needed any information about their illness or many other things she would sometimes stay up at night and find it for them. And finally she was just a GOOD person that had to try helping anyone. Even though we worked together we both had or have the same character in us. We were so close that i made a name for calling her Mommy Lottie, and just about everyone loved it whenever i call her that... Hum, except two people that used to be on here but vanished once i heard that they actually made her cry one time as far as i know. I would never stand for that, and you already know that i am not a mean spirited person but in their case i made sure to take care of business for her because she was about to leave this site, how awful that was for her, as i remember. Also not to forget her cooking... My wife and her used to swap recopies with her and me as well, i just love southern style of cooking and believe me she was the queen of that. So now that you know more about her, as least some of you old time survivors you already know exactly what i'm taking about and as for you very nice "new-bees" now you also know what makes people like this who give their hearts out. Remember life is a learning process.. Never stop learning because you will carry it for the rest of your life. If you should forget something along the way you will eventually remember it especially if it is important to you. *Commonly prescribed include:* - Rivaroxaban (Xarelto) - Dabigatran (Pradaxa) - Apixaban (Eliquis) - Heparin (various) - Warfarin (Coumadin) 18's, Marty On Thu, Feb 22, 2018 at 7:30 AM, 'Icandoallttc' via CMLHope < [email protected]> wrote: > Hi Joyce > How do you take care of blood clots and what do they look like?
