On a small side note regarding that compendium and also RichTextBox,
SiteObjects has just released a new version of its soEditor product that
is supported not only on Cold Fusion, but also Classic ASP and .NET. The
.NET version has several of the things that make RichTextBox appealing
on the .NET platform such as rich Visual Studio.NET integration,
publicly exposed events, and a few other development related features.

If differs w/ RichTextBox and quite frankly most other WYSIWYG editors
greatly in its feature sets, and also its UI. soEditor has been built to
have a Word XP feel to it so that users can start using it quickly and
feel comfortable with it immediately if they are familiar w/ MS Word.

The drawback to using soEditor however is that it's only supported on
Windows PC's running IE5+. Also it currently implements the DHTML Edit
Control behind the scenes which has been known to cause some issues on
PC's running IE5. However, w/ v2.6, I'm gutting the DHTML Edit Control
and migrating soEditor to the more modern MS HTML Editing toolset. Then
w/ v3, soEditor is getting a completely make-over and soEditor will
display a light-weight flash version for "down-level" browsers.

If you are interested in checking out soEditor 2.5, you can visit our
site at www.siteobjects.com and you can view the live example
applications for all three supported platforms at
http://www.siteobjects.com/pages/soeditordocs.cfm. Also, if interested,
you can download a free lite version of our new 2.5 product.

Hi Jeremy,

There is a comprehensive list of "Through-the-web" WYSIWYG editors here:

Much of your decision will be made by your server and delivery platform,
and
cost.

On the ASP.Net platform, I've been quite impressed by RichTextBox:
