I knew it should have been easy - I just got myself stuck in thinking about stems rather than REXX variables.
That will do the job fine. Regarding your question: This is a server that is, in fact, running in a pipeline. What I am doing with this command is to load configuration control information that will be used to process every message passed to the pipeline server code by the master pipe. This particular server will receive request for tape mounts/dismounts/queries on STK equipment and then process these on MVS over TCPIP, passing the results to the requesting user. The particular control file will translate a symbolic tape pool into the real STK pool number. Thanks for your help.
