Hi Elle,

I can't resist answering your question ;-) Use TYPO3! http://www.typo3.org

I have been an active member of the TYPO3 community like for seven years and
especially involved in content rendering of the system. Here you have a system
that is essentially a content management framework. I have put this into use for
a university that hosts like 20 subdomains or more in one installation and for
my dad running a bridge club website. It has a steep learning curve, but I
daresay this is one of the best OS CMS's around and supported by a huge
community. There are 2400 extensions for the system. Examples:

http://www.tip.ge.com

I also saw there is an australian group for TYPO3:

Check TYPO3 ;-)
