We are in the process of deploying MySource Matrix at the State Library of
Western Australia.

The lack of an accessible admin is a concern.

However:

1. Most of the alternatives CMSes are no better or even worse when it comes
to an accessible backend. (I could not find a more accessible alternative
that fitted our needs/requirements)

2. A number of "backend" admin tasks can become frontend (and accessible)
admin tasks via the simple edit interface.

3. The new version (v4), due sometime next year gets rid of the applets and
replaces old school javascript with new school javascript.

You could put the question direct to Squiz via their forums
http://forums.matrix.squiz.net/
a couple of their senior (and very knowledgeable) staff monitor and answer
most the question.
