Its not insanely difficult -- we provide the Administration Interface, which can then be used to build the Simple Edit interfaces. Simple Edit is designed to work exactly the way you want your inline site editing to work, so we don't define anything. Our clients have used it to build things from simple to complex, exactly according to their requirements.
The concept is that Simple Edit is very site-specific, so we give you the tools to build your own. As part of that, you can build that interface to be as accessible as you want. :)
I like to describe Matrix as a bucket of Lego blocks that you can use to build any kind of site you like. One of our key critical differentiators against most other CMS products is that almost all of the HTML generated for the front-end of the website is customisable without development. And if you find a piece of HTML that isn't, let us know so we can fix it. :)
