Do you mean on x86?  Hard.  At least it was fairly hard for me to get
this partially working on sparc-v9, which does have 64-bit integer
registers.  Someone smarter would probably have an easier time.

This is complicated by the fact that there aren't any 64-bit integer
registers on x86.  You'd have to do something with MMX or SSE or
something, as Fred Gilham mentions in another mail.
