Yup. Sounds crazy, doesn't it? Dye the whole bilge. Make sure bilge pump is off. Any tiny amount of water will displace the colored water. It won't readily mix.
So, if the aft portion of the bilge begins to turn clear, the leak is aft. Another option is to dye the fresh water tank. I like this better but most people don't like it. Dennis C.
