I seem to recall we are talking about a newly rebuilt engine. If that's the
case, I suggest Danny simply checks the fluids, fires it up and runs it per the
run-in instructions. No newly rebuilt engine should need other than good clean
new oil. In fact, additives may give the supplier good reason to renege on his
warranty if there is a problem.

Old shade tree mechanic's trick for AT4's. Used to do it annually when I had
AT4's. With the motor at fast idle or better, pour a small stream of automatic
transmission fluid in the carb. It will clean the valves and topworks of the
engine. Caution: do it when the marina is deserted or someone will think your
boat is on fire and call the fire department. Makes a bit of smoke. Dennis

Hi John,

The last time I used MMO (about 5 years, since repowered) I got it at a
Canadian Tire store.

The A4 likes Marvel Mystery Oil, I don't know why because it is a
mystery...anyway if you can find some Marvel Mystery Oil add some to your lube
oil and the tick may go away...you could be very surprised...also add some to
your fuel tank...I think lots of folks have used it in their A4's with
satisfactory outcomes

Hello all, Well the yard Aligned the engine for me yesterday and she runs
great! I was puttering around the harbor yesterday and the boat motors very
well and maneuvers very predictably! I'm happy! The A4 does seem to tick
though. Like a lifter noise. Does anyone know if the atomic 4 is supposed to
sound that way?
