Jonathan,

One of the dangers of asking for info/advice/opinions on this list is you may
get a response you don't want to hear.

Whenever I don't go first rate and buy a premium system, I end up being
dissatisfied and wishing I'd spent the extra $$.

My opinion, buy a whole adjustable ball bearing genoa car system including
track.  New tracks won't cost but a fraction of the whole system.  The newer
systems don't use T-track.  T-tracks don't handle the loads as well as the
newer tracks.

Years ago, I bought the Lewmar Ocean 1 genoa car system because I was trying to
save a few $$$.  I bought the pin stop cars.  Then I decided I wanted the
adjustable cars so I upgraded.  Lewmar's adjustable cars didn't move well under
load even though they were ball bearing cars.  So....when Lewmar brought out
some "new, improved" ball bearing cars I upgraded....again.  They're much
better but still don't move like Harken cars.  Overall, I've probably spent
more than the Harken system.  :(

So....try to save $$$ and fall short of being satisfied OR open the wallet and
get a system that works really well and brings you joy.  Your choice.  Your
needs and budget may be different than mine.

If I had it to over, I'd open the wallet and buy the Harken system even if I
had to wait another year or two.

Merriman genoa cars on the C&C 35MK III (or similar) so they are fully
adjustable. I believe the track is 1 ¼ inch “T” track.  I have
looked at Garhauer’s EZ Glide, and that is a possibility, but a little
pricey – looks like the set up I would need will come in at close to $800
before control lines.  I wonder if there are alternatives – particularly ones
that do not involve replacing the track!
