The Coast Guard out of Grand Marais, MN (north shore of Lake Superior) nearly boarded and inspected my boat three times in a four-DAY period a few years back…
We got boarded just a few miles short of Isle Royale; then again two days later while moving from one bay in Isle Royale to another, they apparently had a different crew aboard who didn't recognize us. I waved our inspection form from two days earlier at them and got them to leave us alone. Then the next day, while nearly back to Grand Marais from Isle Royale, the same boat with yet a different crew tried to board us for inspection; once again, a polite mention of the previous inspection and a waving of said form and they left us alone. This after sailing on Lake Superior for nearly fifteen years and not being boarded once...
