Chuck,

I had to fix a similar problem on my 35-3. It was not a cheap fix, but mine
might have been in worse shape than yours. I would certainly make an
allowance for it in the purchase price. A full keel R&R might cost $5-10K,
hopefully a minor repair would cost significantly less. Always be prepared
to walk away from a purchase. I surveyed a 35-3 in Annapolis. I loved the
boat, but the survey showed it was in poorer condition than I desired. I
paid the surveyor and eventually found another 35-3 that worked for me.

Subject: Stus-List 35 mk 111 purchase pending!

Hello experienced list-ers...I am looking at a 1985 C&C 35 mk3, and noted a
small crack in the keel-to-hull joint. It's where the lead attaches to the
fiberglass. I have read in older posts that this is "fairly normal". I
have had boats in the past do this with external iron and lead...but that
was many years ago. Is this a problem in anyone's experience? Would it be
a "deal breaker"? Are there other issues to watch for? Thanks...new to
this list and would appreciate advising... cs
