In 2002 I bought my boat with no batteries. Installed two AGMs from West Marine. They were expensive. After 8 years one didn't hold a charge too long, so I added a 120VAC charger from West that helped recondition the batteries and charges lasted a lot longer. For 8 years prior I was charging with the engine alternator and an occasional car charger if the boat sat for long. A year later one battery failed to charge in the spring, so I replaced it with a new AGM from Sears. I'm impressed by the quality and charge rate of the new battery and will probably replace the other battery with another Sears AGM.

I typically replace the Voyagers at 5 years. They're still going strong but I replace them anyway. In my cars I use Autocraft batteries from Advance Auto.
