These can be used to one's advantage; my daughter, who was 12 years old at the time, broke one of the red handles, and has been revered in our sailing club ever since as a person not to be messed with...

But I have 2 Titans on board, one that I hadnever used until today, a red handle and it is completely different than myreliable blue Titan winch handle. Construction is totally different. I now view the red one as junk and a safety hazard to boot. Itflexed like you would not believe under light load and flew out of my handafter which or before which I am not actually sure things happened so fast, thelocking mechanism broke free and the thing went flying out of my hand, like asif it was spring loaded because it more or less was. The bottom plasticcove piece fell off during this event and all I could see inside was somefoamed material. If there is a piece of metal under that foam that runs thelength of the handle that piece is very small and not very stiff. Is thisthing a cheap knockoff using the Titan name or has Titan resorted to making acheaper junk product. It seems you need to be careful when buyingsomething with the name Titan on a winch handle. Have a close look atwhat you have because they can become flying objects under loadedcircumstances. Do the indicator lights on the 'dash'light up? I know on my 2qm, I can turn off the ignition and the engine runs, but the tach doesn't work, but the lights do work. Start at the back of thedash - unfortunately if yours is like mine, there are a bunch of wires led intobundles and some of those don't do anything. You should be able to see the wireout of the tach. It could be the rpm sensor on theflywheel as well. Thetach is no longer registering rpm. Not sure if this is an electrical (ieloose wire) or whether it simply wore out. Any suggestions ondiagnosing? Second question-- I am going to install a bimini,, one connection to the coaming on each side. Any thoughts on whether Ihave to put a backing plate under the coaming( is there access)? or can Ijust screw into the coaming?? Thanks for any suggestions.
