I have the standard propane locker under the helm seat and it holds two 10-lb
aluminum tanks. Two 10-lb tanks easily last an entire summer season for me,
using propane every weekend. When I cruised the Bahamas, one tank would last
about 4-6 weeks as I recall. I can't see any reason for carrying more
propane, except I've considered adding a 6-lb aluminum tank dedicated to the
grill and I would mount this on deck near the grill.

The 5-lb tanks are carbon steel and they don't last very long around here (warm
moist salt air). Well, it's not so warm right now though!

I would be glad to make these measurements for you this weekend, if we don't
get any more snow. I live about 30 minutes away from my boat.
