Yes, I’ve had aluminum tanks in the past. They’re really spendy compared to the steel. Remember that I’m in fresh water up here, so a well-coated steel tank will last a long time.
The biggest issue with the propane locker on the LF38 is finding tanks of the right size/shape to get the most capacity; and that often rules out aluminum or fiberglass tanks. And yes, I’ll be carrying it for fills.
