You can’t go wrong with almost any Samsung tablet (Galaxy pads). They have an
advantage that you can get a stand (mind you, not that useful on a boat), they
come with a MicroSD card slot (usually) and have an option to attach any USB
device (low power, so e.g. USB thumb drive, but a real hard drive requires
external power) via a little $3 cable (USB2Go). If you want to you can add a
folio keyboard and turn it into a quasi Chromebook.

Or you can buy a transformer ASUS (with the keyboard).

Nexus is “pure Android” so you don’t get any 3rd party crap on it, but you have
limited connectivity options (as many as on an iPad, but this is still 0).

And if you feel more comfortable in the Windows environment, you can buy a
Surface RT for quite a reasonable price (MS discounted them to around $250).
But you my find that some apps are not available.

Be careful about buying too low. Some lower end (cheaper) tablets don’t have
the GPS built in, or have no camera. You may not consider this a must, but this
might reduce compatibility of the apps; some apps would simply not load.

I hope this helps

Any recommendations for us Android tablet users?

Thanks,
