I have Navionics running on both my iphone and my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.
Both are mounted in Otterbox products. There is a fellow on ebay selling
snap-on holders for the Samsung tablets that have the standard AMP mounting
holes through the back and are made to work with the otterbox defender case
.... The AMPS connection allows you to buy the RAM mount products to attach to
a multitude of surfaces, including rail mount and bolted base. I’m thinking of
having a ball mount at the binnacle and then another one mounted under the
dodger for those real nasty days, since the Otterbox isn’t waterproof. RAM also
makes several swing-arms, so a companionway set-up might be an option as well.
An older handheld Garmin provides back-up and the DSC connection to the VHF.
It’s wired out to the binnacle but I think I’ll set-up a connection as well in
the cabin so it can normally reside, again in a RAM mount, next to the VHF and
hardwired in to 12V and data ... and potentially I could use the ball mount on
the binnacle if need be too (but I think the mounts appropriate for the Samsung
and the Garmin use different diameter balls).
