Here is South Carolina my Vessel is a federal documented boat. South Carolina still taxes me on the boat but they do not register it if it is a federal documented boat. "However" if it in not a federal documented vessel than a stat registration id required. There is no tax incentive or benefit for federal registration. South Carolina taxes it on the value of the boat minus deprecation to a set low value of like $250.00 My tax burden is like $117.00 The term Value is the only word to watch out for. The folks at the tax office have no idea what a 33 year old C&C 30 is worth. They use the purchase price to bring validity to the word worth.
