Echo chargers can work well. They need all charging sources (other than a two bank battery charger maybe..) led to the house bank and no loads other than the engine itself on the start bank. If one battery is a gel the other one has to be as well. AGMs will get along with wet cells OK in this application. There are a bunch of them on FleaBay right now for about $130.
