Diesels love clean fuel and lots or air. Ours is wired into start circuit as the 12v refrig compressor is in the same air space as engine. Both very happy and, I believe, run the better for it

I carry dinghy fuel, generator fuel and propane in the lazerette. So if you are a cruiser and carry various petroleum products I would recommend running the blower.
