Ok…had a zoom meeting with the Sailing club and we’re on a modified racing
season this year for obvious reasons. I’ve missed the window to do some needed
deck repair as by the time the weather changes, it’s sailing season and I keep
on pushing it off to next season not wanting to get into a major project to
interrupt the fun. This pandemic may offer an “off-season” to take the boat
out of commission for a couple of weeks….so…

Lot’s of good information over the past couple years from folks whom have
replaced spongy decks….anybody have an actual source for core material as well
as thickness?

My spongy spots are right at the impact point after 30 years of
racing…mast…foredeck and where folks get on and off the boat at mid-ship. I’m
having on-going and worsening leaks around the mast and the deck hardware
associated with the rigging. I’m assuming a top down effort…cut and
inspect…then make plans.

I’m looking mainly for encouragement as I haven’t done deck repair at this
scale before and it will involve the deck where the mast goes through.
