You should suggest to your fellow yacht club member that he inquire with the museum at the east end of Lake Ontario (forget the name – starts with a “K” as I recall) whether they would like copies of the templates. The museum has a developed a C&C repository.

When they cut it open to see whether it could be rebuilt, The inside was so filthy that it would have cost more to clean it out and rebuild it than having a new one built. I have since learned that one of my yacht club members has all the templates for C&C rudders, and he could have built a new rudder for me for less than what the yard charged.
