| Hi Karl and Doris, The red is probably either Toreador Red or Bright Red—Sunfast wasn’t available when your boat was painted, I don’t think. For touch ups go with less reducer than they recommend for brushing and follow their surface prep instructions to the letter. If you start to get craters, wipe off the paint with alcohol and start your prep again. Bear in mind that red doesn’t not cover very well at all so it will doubtless require several coats to become opaque. You can apply three coats a day if you wait until the last coat is no longer tacky—usually about an hour or so when it’s warm out. And you have a good day before it cures so you can apply a coat the next morning, too. I would prep the surface with 320 wet/dry sandpaper so you don’t get scratch mark in your finished coat. If you have to mix colors to match you boat, be very sparing: a drop of black in a cup of red paint will turn the lot burgundy. Hope this helps. One other thing, bring money! Awl Grip ain’t cheap!
