COBirders, Google profiles are not sufficient nor is any other process that requires you to click a link to get the information. The majority of the group receives their postings in their private email and do not check it on the website. The readers do not need to be the ones to jump through the hoops just to find someone's name and location. Adding your signature is simple and takes little time at all.
Also, basically all email clients nowadays have a way to setup an automatic signature.
