Hi All, A reminder that the GBBC starts tomorrow Feb. 13 and runs through Feb. 16. Take a moment or two and count the birds in your backyard.
Cornell Lab of Ornithology is once again gearing up for the national Great Backyard Bird Count, Feb. 13-16, 2009. It's in its 12th year! This is an great opportunity to participate in a citizen science project right at home. Similar to the Christmas Bird Count, except you can count birds right in your backyard (or favorite park, etc.)! Everyone can participate, and it is a great way to involve kids in a long term science project! Denver lead last year in participation, and Pueblo (of course!) had the high species tally. To participate visit: http://www.birdsource.org/gbbc/howto.html Sincerely, Scott Severs GBBC volunteer Longmont/Boulder Colorado Activities: GBBC activities, Saturday, Feb. 14, Sessions at 9:00 & 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, & 3:00 PM Nature & Raptor Center of Pueblo, Riverfront Building, Pueblo, CO Activities include bird-watching stations with knowledgeable volunteers, banding discussions, bird identification classes and bird crafts.
