Yesterday, I had a late winter wren on the HP Campus at I25 and Rockrimmon.
It was quite difficult to finally get a diagnostic look at this little guy
darting from matted rushes and cattails in a wooded watery ravine on the
site. Vocalizations were few and far between. Finally was able to flush it
into a skunkbrush tangle. There, I got very good looks.

Also had:

. 2nd northern waterthrush this week. Same area.

. First spotted sandpipers ever seen around small pond.

. Very odd savannah sparrow I tried to turn into all kinds of
sparrows until it flew up into a nearby Russian olive and sang.

Quite a late record for winter wren based on Andrews & Righter.
