Yesterday while doing some Breeding Bird Atlas surveying I refound the two
juvenile Black Phoebes at Pathfinder Park I reported to Cobirds in posts on
July 3&4. As I noted in an earlier post Pathfinder Park is just over a
mile west of Florence along H115. If you are coming down this way let me
know and I will provide exact directions to this park and to where the
phoebes have been foraging for the past week or so.

Black Phoebe parents and fledglings engage in post breeding dispersal.
Those I have followed in the Canon City area often move good distances. A
few days ago an adult Black Phoebe showed up at my friend's property
followed 2 days later by a second Black Phoebe (not sure of age). Yesterday
I saw 3 Black Phoebes feeding within feet of each other at this location,
apparently a family group. At least one was an adult and one clearly a
juvenile that was rebuffed by the parent when it approached the adult
begging for food. I also had an Eastern Phoebe drop by that area but it
only stayed for one evening (Eastern Phoebes also do post breeding
dispersals).
