COBirders, Sorry for the late post... I spent all day Saturday on the Mount Big Chief block that includes the upper part of TNC's Aiken Canon Preserve and private land up Little Turkey Creek off Hwy 115. The timing was perfect for Fledgling (FL) and Feeding Fledgling (FF) confirmations. Most were of species already confirmed, but I was finally able to confirm Bushtit, Juniper Titmouse, and Plumbeous Vireo. It was also perfect time to see a relatively small black bear (yearling or small female?) on the Canyon trail above the loop trail. I also saw my first Ash-throated Flycatchers and Brown Creepers on this block but was unable to confirm breeding. Canyon Towhees were reported on BBA I 20 years ago but I haven't seen or heard from a single one in two years there. Little Turkey Creek has Ovenbirds again this year but I still haven't confirmed breeding. They are hanging out streamside on flat benches with lots of tall and sapling White fir. I'm hoping to get back up this week or weekend and get confirmation.
