CoBirders, The monthly ABA bird walk at Garden of the Gods will commence at 8:00 AM this Saturday, July 18 in the visitor center parking lot on N. 30th St in Colorado Springs. This month the leader will be Saraiya Ruano, former ABA Young Birder of the Year, now Colorado College student and owl researcher extraordinaire, as well as manager of The Eyrie: ABA's Blog for Young Birders. She promises to wear an ABA hat to identify herself!
All ages and abilities are welcome and we will stay primarily on the well-maintained trails. Loaner binoculars will also be available so don't let that stop you. Bring a friend or two!! We will check the visitor center hummer feeders and then carpool up into the park afterwards. We hope for the resident Prairie Falcons, White-throated Swifts, Canyon Wrens, Western Scrub-Jays, Spotted Towhees, and possibly Juniper Titmice, Bushtits, and Ash-throated Flycatchers if we are lucky. The walk will last until at least 10:00 am. Come join Saraiya on the monthly ABA outreach birdwalk at this fabulous park with awe-inspiring scenery. Please contact me by Wednesday at 5 PM if you have questions, but no need to sign up - just show up!
