Tom Halverstadt and I observed male-female pairs of both Indigo Buntings and Orchard Orioles on private property (Country Lane Wholesale Nursery) just north of Franktown this morning. Also of interest at the location were Lazuli Buntings (m-f pair), Eastern Kingbirds (at nest site, and attacking a Swainson's Hawk), a fly-over of 8 American White Pelicans, and tons of both goldfinches, amongst other species.
I also observed the Black Vulture at Castlewood Canyon SP this morning, along with Cole & Jessi. Thanks, Cole, for spotting it in the far-off distance.......a new Colorado bird for me!
