Hi COBirders,

I've been reading all of the reports of hummingbirds people are seeing  
their yard, and feeling a little left out!  I usually have Broadtails  
and Rufous here by July 4 every summer, but that wasn't the case this  
year, and they only showed up about a week ago.  Now things appear  
more normal, and we had our first Male Calliope today. Still watching  
for our first Black-chinned to appear (coincidently, or not, our  
hummingbird flowers bloomed later than usual, too, despite the  
moisture).

We were at the Fawnbook Inn Thursday, and couldn't believe the density  
of Broadtails.  There were 20-30 in sight all of the time - and I'm  
not sure how that translates to total number of birds visiting the  
feeders, but it was probably the the most hummingbirds I've seen at  
one time outside of the tropics.  They certainly are one of our summer  
highlights.
